musical instruments

Early musical training helps develop the left side of the brain, including the areas that allow reasoning, language, spatial intelligence, problem solving, and creativity.  Many studies have shown that music education and mathematics skill are linked, and children with a background in musical education test higher, earn better grades in high school, and develop critical thinking skills that will serve them well in post-secondary education.

Playing musical instruments requires practice and provides a means of self-expression for a child.  It can help children learn to focus, and if the child participates in group activities such as an orchestra, cooperation and communication with others to achieve a final goal will help them learn to be part of a team.

What Is a Chafing Dish?

stainless steel chafing dishes

At large catered buffet meals or salad bars, stainless steel chafing dishes are everywhere, but most of us don’t know the name for them.

A chafing dish is used for foods that need to be kept warm or cold.  When they do not fit into a buffet or salad bar, chafing dishes tend to be kind of a portable grate raised on a tripod that keeps food at an acceptable dining temperature, but away from direct heat, preventing burning and overcooking in hot foods and spoilage in cold ones packed in ice.
